Traveling by train is reasonably safe compared to other forms of transportation; however there are thousands of train accidents that occur across the United States ever year that leaves many people seriously injured and some even dead.

The most common reason for train accidents is negligence. Train accidents are usually caused by the negligence of railroad companies, individuals, employees, environmental dangers, mechanical faults, and the government.
